Location Kingfishers Bridge

Post holder reports to Roger Beecroft (project manager) and Andrew Green

Overall purpose of job:
To support the project manger and owner in the management of Kingfishers Bridge to maximise wildlife diversity and productivity The role will involve managing habitat, species and people at KFB

Key attributes needed:
A wildlife enthusiast who understands the importance of successful wildlife outcomes

Main duties:
Carry out the day to day management of the reserve.

Responsible for routine inspections of livestock and infrastructure

Carry out habitat and estate work across the reserve including mowing, weed control, scrub control, water level management, stock management and fence maintenance

Operate, maintain and ensure safe and economic use of machinery across the reserve.

Supervise, encourage and instruct volunteers and contractors.

Contribute to work planning and review of work plans, maintain records and reserve administration

Lead guided walks and give talks on/off site as required

Undertake and/or manage predator control programme

Assist with monitoring wildlife and habitat changes, especially filling gaps in work undertaken by volunteers.

Undertake other work as necessary to maximise wildlife diversity and productivity at Kingfishers Bridge


Skills, experience and training:

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for wildlife and a good practical aptitude with experience of machinery operation. Qualifications in herbicide application and machinery operation is an advantage, but additional training may be given if necessary.
